Collaboration in Health and Welfare pdf
Description

Presenting ideas drawn from a critical analysis of the concept of collaboration, the author argues that interprofessional and interagency collaboration should be explicitly purposeful, structurally supported, and specifically skilled. The need for a framework to evaluate projects, design curricula and develop reflective practice is examined; and the author also raises questions about popular emphases, such as the search for common core skills and the pursuit of a generic practitioner. Working with Denied Child Abuse pdf
Description

How can professionals build constructive relationships with families where the parents dispute professional allegations of serious child abuse? How can meaningful safety for children be created in these families? How can professionals work together constructively in such cases? Situations where parents refute child abuse allegations made against them are often deemed to be impossible or untreatable by statutory and treatment professionals. These cases can consume enormous amounts of professional time and energy and frequently become bogged down by ongoing professional-family mistrust and dispute. Often, the decision to close such cases comes about not because the children are safe, but rather because the professionalsrun out of ideas, time and energy. Working with ‘Denied’ Child Abuse presents an innovative, safety-focused, partnership-based, model called Resolutions, which provides an alternative approach for responding rigourously and creatively to such ca Download Working with Denied Child Abuse for free via rapidshare, mediafire, 4shared, dropBox, uploading, fileserve

A Decade of Aid to the Health Sector in Somalia 2000-2009 (World Bank Working Papers) pdf
Description

This study reviews trends in aid provided to the health sector in Somalia over 2000–2009. It is a testimony to the commitment of donors and implementers who have relentlessly tried to improve the dire health situation of millions of Somalis. At the same time, this study is a wake-up call for all donors and implementers. Have donors been generous enough? Have millions of dollars been invested in the most efficient way to maximize results? Did donors choose the right priorities? Did they stay the course? Did they learn from their own mistakes? The answers are mixed. Donors stepped up their contributions over the decade: some new financiers came, some others left, but overall, financial support has been constantly increasing. Emergencies took up 30 percent of the overall funding, thus demonstrating the impact on the health sector of man-made and natural disasters. Only 20 percent was allocated for horizontal programs, with increasing funds over the last part of the decade. The Human Resources for Health Crisis in Zambia pdf
Description

The Human Resources for Health Crisis in Zambia is part of the World Bank Working Paper series. These papers are published to communicate the results of the Bank’s ongoing research and to stimulate public discussion. Despite reporting some health gains since the 1990s, health outcomes remain poor in Zambia and it will be very challenging to achieve the health-related Millennium Development Goals by 2015. The Government of Zambia recognizes that the improvement of child and maternal health and the reduction in mortality from HIV/AIDs and malaria require better access to an appropriate number of wellperforming health workers or human resources for health (HRH). This paper compiles recent evidence on the Zambian health labor market and provides some baseline information on HRH to support the government address its HRH challenges. In addition, the paper analyzes the available evidence on the national health labor market to better understand the number, distribution, and performance of HR Download The Human Resources for Health Crisis in Zambia for free via rapidshare, mediafire, 4shared, dropBox, uploading, fileserve

A Working Life For People With Severe Mental Illness pdf
Description

Traditional approaches to vocational rehabilitation, such as skills training classes, job clubs, and sheltered employment, have not been successful in helping people with severe mental illness gain competitive employment. Supported employment, in which clients are placed in jobs and then trained by on-site coaches, is a radically new conceptual approach to vocational rehabilitation designed for people with developmental disabilities. The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) method utilizes the supported employment concept, but modifies it for use with the severely mentally ill. It is the only approach that has a strong empirical research base: rates of competitive employment are 40% or more in IPS programs, compared to 15% in traditional mental health programs. The third volume in the Innovations in Practice and Service Delivery with Vulnerable Populations series, this will be extremely useful to students in psychiatric rehabilitation programs and social work classes dealing with the Download A Working Life For People With Severe Mental Illness for free via rapidshare, mediafire, 4shared, dropBox, uploading, fileserve

In the last half-century, radical changes have rippled through the workplace and the home from Boston to Mumbai. In the face of rapid globalization, these changes affect us all, and we can no longer confine ourselves to addressing working and social conditions within our own borders without simultaneously addressing them on a global scale. Based on over a thousand in-depth interviews and survey data from more than 55,000 families spanning five continents, Jody Heymann's Forgotten Families presents the first truly global account of how the changing conditions of work affect us all.
